"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ

... because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes."— Romans 1:16

How could I ever be ashamed of the best news ever heard, and the greatest love story ever told!

The central truth of the gospel is that God has provided a way of salvation for us through the gift of His Son to the world. "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life." — John 3:16. The gospel is good news because it is a gift from God, not something that must be earned by penance or by self-improvement.

Sometimes I picture the gospel like a gift box being held out to someone. That person has a choice whether to take the gift or not, and even if they take it, they may not open it for a very long time. They may have been told what is inside — but they can't imagine that it could be true! But for those who unwrap and open the gift — life will never be the same. Their life will be flooded with the "Light of the World" and they will know that Jesus is their light.  Jesus said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."  — John 8:12

I started thinking about the gospel today because of a story I heard this week about a young man in Malawi named "Gospel". Just a few days ago, Gospel opened God's "gift box" and discovered the gospel inside! (Read "Gospel's" story below)

Jesus said in Mark 16:15,  "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation." He was asking us to take this priceless gift of the gospel and give it out to all — everyone!

In Malawi, because of your partnership in the gospel, many gogos, children, youth and adults are opening God's gift and coming to know Jesus as their Savior and the light of their life. There is no better gift that we can give!
