“...like a man building a house....” – Luke 6:47a

Jesus knows that good life-buildingis like good house-building, and the foundation is the most important part! “Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like: he is like a man buildinga house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built.” –Luke 6:47-48

I love the way the Message Bible states this, “These words I speak to you are not mere additions to your life, homeowner improvements to your standard of living. They are foundation words, words to builda life on.”

Jesus gave us His life and His words for us to build our lives on! What a foundation! Nothing can shake it! The house we build on that foundation has people in it who God wants us to care about. The house we buildon that foundation has a purpose for us in God’s construction work on earth.

I was convicted by this verse in Haggai 1:4 (not a book of the BibleI hang out in very often).

“Is it a time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, while this house lies in ruins?” – Haggai 1:4 ESV

It made me search my heart and ask what am I building? Am I too comfortable in my “paneled house”? How am I engaged in God’s plan to redeem what lies in ruins in my world?

These are foundational questions for us -- and the worst thing that can happen is when we stop asking them!

In Malawi there is a lot of buildinggoing on through our SAFE staff and those of you engaged through prayer and giving. Thank you for buildingwith us!
