When I read these 2 words “walk humbly” and the 28 words surrounding them in Micah 6:8 — “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” — they always feel like clean water splashed on my dirty feet! I want to breathe them in slowly, and make them true in my life and in our world!
After being in Malawi and meeting people who have known very little justice or mercy, yet walked humbly with their God, I began to refer to them as, “The people who walk”. This was absolutely true physically as most people walk long, long distances to school, garden plots, and work — carrying things on their heads! But, it was also true spiritually! I observed our SAFE staff team, who walk humbly with God to be the hands and feet of Jesus to the very young, the youth and the very old in Malawi! It made me want to walk with them — just as many of you have been walking with them through prayer, giving and going!
