The first 3 months of 2024 will certainly be “the hungry time” for many gogos (grandmothers)—particularly those whose gardens were ruined by Cyclone Freddy and who have also been especially hurt by the recent high cost of fertilizer and runaway inflation.
Used carefully, a 25kg bag of Maize can keep a gogo (and children she cares for) from serious hunger for about a month.
